What is BRAVE ?

BRAVE is a browser as can be Mozilla, Chrome or Internet Explorer for example. It was founded by Brendan Eich, an American computer scientist, inventor of the JavaScript language and one of the founders of the well known browser Mozilla.

When BRAVE was launched in 2016, it raised $7 million from private investors. A second fundraising of $35 million took place on May 31, 2017 in the form of an ICO (Inital Coin Offering) and was completed in less than 35 seconds, which is very impressive.

According to its creator, it would be 40% faster than Google Chrome on computers and 4 times faster on smartphones. This greater speed is due to the elements that it does not load (trackers, third-party cookies and online advertising).

Basic Attention Token

The “Basic Attention Token” (BAT) is a cryptomoney based on the Ethereum blockchain. It is used by the Brave browser, its purpose is to bypass current advertising services and instead offer to reward users when they view ads.

These rewards, in the form of BATs, can then be redistributed by the user to the content creators he likes the most, in the form of a donation or monthly transfer.

In fact, a wallet is directly included in the browser allowing users to store their BAT tokens. The objective is that these tokens, also called tokens (Ethereum’s ERC-20) become the “currency of the Internet”.

How to win a BAT?

The creator of the software proposes a new business model for the distribution of advertising revenues. Brave blocks ads from websites. And, if the user chooses, replaces them with others deemed more relevant. The revenues from these ads are then paid out.
